How the topsoil calculator works
Topsoil is sold by the cubic yard. Compute volume the same way as gravel: length × width × depth (in feet), then divide by 27.
Formula: yd³ = (L × W × D/12) ÷ 27

How much topsoil do I need for a lawn?
A new lawn needs 4–6 in of topsoil. For 1,000 ft² at 4 in, that's about 12.3 yd³.
How many yards of topsoil in a ton?
