Pro calculator
Wainscoting Calculator
Estimate wainscoting panels and trim linear feet.
How the wainscoting calculator works
Panels = (room perimeter in inches ÷ panel width). Chair rail and base run the full perimeter, with 10% added for cuts.
Frequently asked questions
How tall should wainscoting be?
1/3 of ceiling height is a classic rule — usually 32–36 in for 8 ft ceilings, up to 60 in for tall rooms.
How much do I subtract for doors?
Subtract each door width from the perimeter for panel count; chair rail and base still run under trim.
