Estimate mortar by counting the units to be laid. One standard 80 lb bag of mortar mix covers about 30–35 bricks or 12–15 concrete blocks with 3/8-inch joints. One cubic foot of mortar sets roughly 30 bricks. Divide your unit count by the applicable yield, and add 10% for waste. Enter your wall details to estimate mortar bags and sand.

Mortar coverage depends on the unit. Rule of thumb: one 70 lb bag of pre-mix type S covers about 125 modular bricks or 30 standard CMU blocks.
