Terms of Service
Effective July 9, 2026. This page is maintained by MaterialCalc.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using MaterialCalc.io ("the Service") you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. The service
MaterialCalc provides free and paid ("Pro") construction and DIY material calculators, informational articles, and related tools. Results are estimates only and are provided for planning purposes.
3. No warranty on estimates
All calculator outputs are estimates. Real-world material quantities depend on job-site conditions, waste, tolerances, code requirements and installer skill. Always confirm quantities with your contractor, engineer or supplier before purchasing or building. MaterialCalc is not liable for over- or under-purchase, structural failure, code non-compliance, or any other loss arising from reliance on the estimates.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.
- You must not share your account, resell access, or use the Service to build a competing product.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or attempt to gain unauthorised access.
- Use the Service to store or transmit unlawful, infringing or harmful content.
- Overload the API or run automated queries beyond the documented rate limits.
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation.
6. Subscriptions and payment
- Pro plans are billed by Stripe on the interval displayed at checkout (monthly or annual).
- Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel from your account settings.
- Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. EU/UK consumers may exercise the 14-day right of withdrawal if you have not begun to use paid features.
- We may change pricing on 30 days' notice; the new price applies from your next renewal.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its content, logos, code and calculator implementations, is owned by MaterialCalc and protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You retain ownership of the inputs and project data you submit; you grant us the licence needed to store, process and display it back to you.
8. AI-generated content
Some articles and explanations are generated with the assistance of AI models under editorial review. AI output can contain errors — always verify safety-critical information (structural specs, code requirements, hazardous materials) against the cited sources or a qualified professional.
9. Third-party services
The Service integrates with Google (Sign-In, Analytics), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Supabase (backend) and Cloudflare (hosting). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their portions of the interaction.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, engage in fraud, or if we discontinue the Service on 30 days' notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (IP, disclaimers, liability, governing law) survive termination.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MaterialCalc's total liability arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data or business interruption. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, for account holders, notified by email.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of MaterialCalc's principal place of business. Consumer protections that cannot be waived under your local law still apply.
